Contribute to the public record
This form is for public facts. Information about a person (a name, a face, a car, an address) goes to the police, where it can lead somewhere: task team 082 465 7249, Crime Stop 08600 10111 (anonymous), or the MySAPS app. A moderator reads everything sent here before it appears. The rules.
What the community can actually provide
Two lists. The first goes to the police and can help catch someone. The second goes to this site and helps keep the record, and the roads, honest.
To SAPS (082 465 7249 · Crime Stop 08600 10111)
- A near-miss. You or someone you know was followed, grabbed at, offered a lift, or lured in the area since June and got away. Survivors of attempts are how most series in this country were solved, see how cases get solved.
- A time and a place. Something you saw on the R21 service roads, Rhodesfield, Olifantsfontein or KwaThema around the discovery dates: a vehicle stopped where nothing stops, a person on foot where nobody walks, at what time.
- Footage. CCTV, dashcam, doorbell, gate camera near any site. Don't delete; don't post; tell them you have it.
- A missing woman. Anyone missing from the East Rand since June, report it and ask for the task team.
- A victim's movements. Friends, colleagues, taxi drivers, running partners: where she was going, who she was meeting, which route she used.
To this site (form below)
- A source, a news report, SAPS statement, court roll entry, official missing-person notice or NGO statement we haven't listed.
- An observation about the published record, a discrepancy, a detail one outlet had and others missed.
- A correction, wrong date, place, age, pin.
- A safety hazard, a dark stretch, dead streetlights, uncut veld with no line of sight, no cellphone signal, a broken fence onto the highway. Approved hazards go on the Map and into the lighting-and-patrols demand of the petition.
- Who is acting, a run, a march, a statement by an organisation, with the report.
