What we welcome
Armed response & security companies
Escorted running or walking groups in Rhodesfield / Kempton Park, visible patrols on the R21 service roads, safe-transport offers for women who commute on foot, coordinated with the local CPF and SAPS, not instead of them. We will list what you offer on this page.
Camera owners near the sites
Businesses, estates and residents with CCTV, licence-plate cameras, dashcams or doorbell cameras near any discovery site: preserve your footage from the dates below and contact the task team directly (W/O Manyike, 082 465 7249). Hand it to the police, not to us, footage given to a website is not evidence.
Community organisations & NGOs
Victim support, GBV organisations, CPFs, running clubs, faith groups. Tell us what you are doing and we will link to it from Updates.
Journalists & researchers
Everything here is sourced and free to reuse with attribution. Corrections from anyone who covered the story are especially welcome.
Volunteers
Moderators (we need more than one), a lawyer who understands defamation and POPIA, translators (isiZulu, Sesotho, Afrikaans), someone to run the WhatsApp Channel.

Police, prosecutors, security professionals, investigators
SAPS, EMPD, NPA, IPID
Three promises. (1) Anything you tell us harms the investigation comes down first; we ask questions afterwards. (2) Any official appeal, identikit, CCTV still, vehicle, description, is published verbatim on the Tips page within the hour, with your link, and nowhere else on the site. (3) The whole sourced record is yours in machine-readable form: /api/record (one JSON file: discoveries, sources, statements, updates, crime-facts, approved community contributions).
If you would like the site to carry a specific message to residents or employers, send the wording and it goes up as written.
Security companies and armed response
Welcome: escorted running and walking groups, patrols on the R21 service roads and in Rhodesfield at running hours, safe transport for women on foot, and most useful of all, a map of where your cameras are (positions and fields of view, not footage) so the task team knows whom to approach. Patrol logs and camera footage from the discovery dates go to SAPS directly; tell them you have it.
Not welcome: stopping, questioning or photographing people who "look suspicious". That is how an innocent man gets hurt and a case gets thrown out.
Private investigators (PSIRA-registered) and retired detectives
Welcome: a professional review of this record's method and caveats; a lighting-and-sightline audit of the running routes; help verifying camera positions; advice to the public on what does and does not help, published under your name. Former SAPS detectives and IPU members are especially welcome as reviewers, the site's value is that it is right.
Not welcome: any investigation of a person, surveillance, tailing, background checks, "running" a name or a plate. If you have evidence about a person, it goes to the task team, not to us, and not to a client.
Journalists and researchers
The record is free to reuse with a link. /api/record gives you everything as data; the Sources page lists every discrepancy we know of. Corrections both ways, please.
A contact address for professionals is being set up, check back shortly.
What we will not do, with anyone
- No facial-recognition or number-plate tracking partnerships. Running people's faces or cars through a private system to find "suspects" is surveillance of a whole community, is unlawful without a basis under POPIA (biometrics are special personal information), and would hand a defence lawyer the argument that the case was contaminated by amateurs. If you operate cameras, the useful thing is above: preserve footage, give it to SAPS.
- No private investigation. No patrols "looking for the killer", no stopping men who look suspicious, no shared lists of people. Safety patrols protect people; they do not hunt anyone.
- No visitor tracking. This site keeps no record of who reads it beyond anonymous page counts, and will not build one for anybody.
